Configuration Specialist
Summary
This position is responsible for working with client and internal technical teams in a product specialist consultative role. Acts as subject matter expert to provide guidance, explanation, and product troubleshooting, compile business definitions for client application configuration. Will work with multiple clients to complete all configuration tasks related to client projects, base product, and will also create base configuration templates for the product via User Interface. Works with clients to develop configuration specifications, research reported configuration issues, develop written explanations for business problems, and work closely with the software engineering team to find best solutions.
Provides configuration leadership to all configuration analysts on the project as well as development of global design strategy across all LOBs. Oversees all configuration loading, either manual or programmatic to ensure completeness, integrity, system functionality maximized and cross-functional integration respected. Responsible for detailed configuration documentation which fully outlines the configuration requirements (how they are used in the system). Prototype creation of actual configuration which is used for validation testing. Troubleshooting configuration issues based on testing results. Reports progress, plans and problems to the project manager
Must be able to research a configuration issue in the system, process limited or minimal information from the client and develop logical conclusions as to cause. Must be able to communicate effectively between the business community and the Engineering staff and understand both environments.
Will have the responsibility for configuration tasks related to one or more clients and will act as a point of contact for configuration questions and issues that arise with those clients.
Responsibilities
- Provide consultative services to customers relating to the configuration of the customer's application.
- Interview clients to define configuration requirements that will meet their needs.
- Define and document configuration requirements. Documentation may include flow charts, report or screen mock-ups, and business rules to support the configuration requirements phase.
- Research and answer questions from the internal project team, the business and the client.
- Work with technical teams and business resources to coordinate the implementation of requirements.
- Provide excellent customer service, maintain good rapport with customers
- Ability to correlate current client business practices to Healthation product configuration capabilities or required features.
- Learn Healthation products, provide customer training and demos as required.
- Work effectively with a multi-disciplinary project team to ensure requirements are met and delivered as designed.
- Prepare and deliver periodic and ad-hoc oral and written project, status and time allocation reports for management.
- Assist customer with product usability issues.
- Train clients on proper use/configuration of their purchased software package.
- Train clients on all product updates and upgrades as they may apply to configuration tools or techniques.
- Participate in the "on-call" rotation to help customers during non-business hours.
- This is a client facing position that may require travel.
- Other duties as determined based on business needs.
- Track deliverables and meet agreed upon target dates/schedules.
- Identifying workflow issues and drive resolution
- Correlate current Client business practices to Healthation Product capabilities or required features.
- Work effectively with a multidisciplinary Project Team to insure requirements are met and are delivered as designed
- Train clients on all product updates and upgrades as they may apply
- Diagnose and direct correction of Healthation application and other vendor system software defects
- Provide excellent Client service, maintain good rapport with Clients
- Collaborate and cultivate positive relationships with internal and external Clients through delivery of sustainable, measurable, accurate, reliable, and timely results that meet or exceed client expectations.

Education/Training
Bachelor degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent experience
Basic knowledge of databases, SQL, XML, EDI and Internet
Experience
- 3-5 years related experience, including working on a software development project team.
- Experience with and understanding of web software development
- Development experience a plus
- SAS experience a plus
- Experience in healthcare industry including claims systems, HIPAA, provider relations and/or group and member services preferred
Reporting Structure
Reports to the Director, Professional Services and will work closely with other peer level and senior software engineers, database/network administrators, various management/non-management individuals within the company, system vendors and customers.
