Business Analyst

Summary

The Business Analyst is responsible for all aspects of supporting our Business partners and customers. This includes:

  • Traditional Business Analyst duties, such as working with clients to develop Business Functional Specifications for system enhancements
  • Also encompasses the full range of user support activities, such as researching reported issues, developing written explanations for the business problem that ensues and working closely with the Software Engineering team to find the best solution to the problem.

The Business Analyst must be able to:

  • Research an issue in the system
  • Process limited or minimal information from the Client and develop logical conclusions as to the cause of the issue at hand.
  • Communicate effectively between the Business community and the Application Development staff and understand both environments.
  • The Business Analyst will have primary responsibility for one or more Healthation clients and will act as the main point of contact for questions and issues that arise with that client.

Requirements

Skills

  • Excellent ability to analyze complex business problems and utilize standard business analysis techniques to develop functional documentation
  • Advanced knowledge in specification gathering, analysis and documentation
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent people skills with comfort/confidence in client facing role
  • Excellent ability to organize information, manage tasks and projects, and use available tools to effectively contribute to the organization
  • Investigation skills to diagnose and resolve or re commend resolution to the technical staff members

Education / Training

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • PMI (Project Management Institute) PMP certification or equivalent
  • Basic knowledge of databases, SQL, XML, EDI and Internet

Experience

  • 3-5 years related experience, including working on a software development project team
  • Experience in healthcare industry including claims systems, HIPAA, provider relations and/or group and member services
  • Proven experience in business analysis, working with business units to acquire and document business rules
  • Proven experience with QA tools and developing QA standards is desirable
  • Experience with and understanding of web software development
